North American tour of Anastasia Musical to welcome new cast members

The new additions to the non-Equity touring company will kick off August 23 in Boston.

The 2017 Broadway Musical North American Tour Anastasiawhich premiered at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, Connecticut, in October 2021, will welcome several new cast members beginning August 23 at the Citizens Bank Opera House in Boston, Massachusetts.

Joining the non-Equity production will be Veronica Stern as Anya, Willem Butler as Dmitry, Ben Edquist as Gleb, and Leela Chopra and Alexandrya Salazar, who will alternate as Little Anastasia. Gerri Weagraff as the Empress Dowager, Bryan Seastrom as Vlad and Madeline Raube as Countess Lily continue the tour.

The set includes Thalia Atallah, Lance Timothy Barker, Zachary Bigelow, William Aaron Bishop, Louis Brogna, Amin Fuson, Rebecca Hartman, Kaitlyn Jackson, Brooklyn Libao, Alec Lloyd, Victoria Madden, Billy McGavin, Lathan A. Roberts, Amy Smith, Sarah Statler, Lauren Teyke and Aidan Ziegler-Hansen.

Sarah Hartman leads the tour based on the original direction of Tony winner Darko Tresnjak.

The stage adaptation expands on the 1997 animated musical film featuring a score by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Ahrens and Flaherty, who was nominated for the Oscar for the film’s anthem, “Journey to the Past,” expanded their score for the Broadway premiere, which features a book by the late Tony-winning playwright Terrence McNally. The three had previously collaborated on the hit Broadway musical Ragtime.

The creative team also includes original choreographer Peggy Hickey, choreographer Bill Burns, set designer Alexander Dodge, costume designer Linda Cho, lighting designer Donald Holder, sound designer Peter Hylenski, projection designer Aaron Rhyne, designer hair and wig designer Charles G. LaPointe, makeup designer Joe Dulude II, music supervisor Tom Murray, music director Jeremy Lyons, orchestrator Doug Besterman and dance arranger David Chase with the cast of Jason Styres.
