The Savoy Singers have been providing entertainment to a wide variety of community and fundraising groups for over 40 years.

The group has done much to support the fundraising efforts of non-profit organizations, including the Anti-Cancer Council, the Red Cross and Save The Children Fund, as well as many individual churches, bowling clubs, clubs gardening, hospitals, retirement communities. , music festivals and other community groups.

From one perspective, the group has helped raise over half a million dollars for the organizations it has entertained over the past 40 years.

Its origins come from the Savoy Opera company in Melbourne, and most of the current members of the group have played principal roles with the Savoy Opera and other major musical theater companies, in addition to having extensive experience as soloists. , musicians, band singers and stage performers in opera. , musical theater and choirs.

James Johnston, spokesman for the Savoy Singers, said the group was delighted to perform at Echuca.

“We last played at Echuca-Moama Uniting Church in July 2019,” he said.

“The reception and reaction from the public was wonderful and we have very warm memories of this occasion.

“We had planned to return in 2021 but were thwarted by restrictions surrounding the COVID pandemic.

“We relish the invitation to return to this fantastic venue and once again play for the people of Echuca Moama.”

The Savoy Singers will perform at Echuca-Moama Uniting Church on Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m., with tickets available for $20 at the door.
