Aurora student participates in scholarship and creativity symposium

Olunife Akinmolayanfrom Aurora, 60504, recently participated in the 2022 Symposium on Scholarship and Creativity at the University of Findlay.

Akinmolayan received the College of Pharmacy Travel Award and the Good Advocacy Award. Additionally, Akinmolayan presented “Equipping Pharmacists and Student Pharmacists with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Tools.”

Undergraduate and graduate students had the opportunity to share their experiences of research, creativity, and professional learning with the University and the community, with many students receiving honors at the same time. Aurora students inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

The following individuals were recently inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

  • Cara Casiglio from Aurora (60506) at DePaul University
  • Elisa Reamer Aurora (60506) at Northern Illinois University

They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires the nomination and approval of a Chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of graduate degree applicants may also be eligible, as may faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved academic distinction.

Aurora student gets scholarship to Central College

Mount Logan of Aurora received the Journey Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year from Central College for his high commitment to academic achievement. Mont is a member of Central’s Class of 2024 in Pella, Iowa.

The Scholarship Celebration also honored the generous alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff who support scholarships for Central students. A video was shown during the dinner highlighting Central’s new endowed scholarship. It can be viewed at central.edu/perkins-scholarship.

Aurora Student Participates in Stage Co-Production of “Lizzie: The Musical”

Audrey Hare of Aurora (60503) was part of the talented cast and crew of the Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts collaborative production of “Lizzie: The Musical” in the spring semester of 2022. Hare, graduated from Benet Academy with a major in musical theater, played the role of Alice in the production.

“Lizzie: The Musical” was directed by Victoria Bussert with choreography by Greg Daniels and musical direction by Matthew Webb. Aurora student graduates from Utah State University

Sara Goeking (from 60506) is a candidate to graduate from Utah State University with a Doctor of Philosophy in Watershed Science. Aurora student named UW-Whitewater Chancellor Athlete-Scholar

Emma Askea native of Aurora, Illinois, and a graduate of Metea Valley High School, is one of 59 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student-athletes recognized by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Intercollegiate Athletics Department and the Acting Chancellor John Chenoweth as Chancellor 2021-22. Scholars-Athletes Presented by Northwestern Mutual.

Aske, a member of the UW-Whitewater volleyball team, majors in physical education.

Each Chancellor’s Athlete-Scholar was recognized at a ceremony at the James R. Connor University Center by Director of Athletics Ryan Callahan and Chancellor Chenoweth.

To be recognized as scholar-athletes, student-athletes must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher through the end of the fall 2021 semester. Recipients must have participated in varsity sport for two years, must have advanced academic status, and must have accumulated at least 90 degree credits.

Zachary Weiss named to Bob Jones University list of presidents

Zachary Weissa sophomore in engineering from Aurora, was among more than 620 Bob Jones University students named to the president’s spring 2022 list.

The President’s List recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.75 or higher for the semester.

Student Presents Research at Carthage College Scholarship Event

Carthage College held its annual Celebration of Scholars event on Saturday May 7th and Sunday May 8th. Celebration of Scholars is a poster exhibition that showcases original research, scholarship, and creative work by students from Carthage.
