Expo 2020 Dubai: China celebrates National Day with musical performances and Peking Opera

The People’s Republic of China celebrated its National Day of Expo 2020 on Monday, with Ni Jian, Chinese Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, stressing the mutual trust and trade and economic cooperation provided under the Belt and Road Initiative. and the Road”.

Speaking at Al Wasl Plaza, Ni Jian celebrated the relationship as “profound” and “fruitful”, and also underlined the two nations’ intentions to enrich the strategic partnership.

The cultural program ended with an opera performance by Wang Weilian, singing the harmonious My Motherland and Me.

Ni Jian was welcomed by Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of Expo 2020 Dubai, and Sultan Al Shamsi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates united for international development affairs.

Al Shamsi said: “The UAE and China share an unshakeable relationship, based on notions of friendship and respect, which has grown stronger over the years, with collaboration extending to various sectors of interest. mutual, especially China’s Belt and Road initiative, in which the UAE has been a key and supportive partner.

“We are confident that with China’s strong participation and commitment to Expo 2020, relations between our two nations will mark the beginning of an even richer chapter in their history.”

Ni Jian said: “The ancient Silk Road 2,000 years ago brought our two peoples together, a spirit that the UAE and China seek to revive in the modern age. In recent years, under the close guidance of our respective leaders, China and the UAE have enjoyed deep political mutual trust, fruitful trade and economic cooperation, and flourishing people-to-people exchanges.

“China stands ready to join forces with the United Arab Emirates to further enhance political trust and practical cooperation in various fields within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, enriching our comprehensive strategic partnership and providing more great benefits to our two peoples.China and the UAE enjoy broad prospects for win-win cooperation, underpinned by the enhanced compatibility that this deeper cooperation offers.

The UAE is a key financial, trade and logistics hub, valued by China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a development and infrastructure investment program that aims to connect Asia with Africa and to Europe through land and sea networks, increasing trade and stimulating economic growth. Enhanced cooperation under the BRI initiative has supported a target of $200 billion in two-way trade between the UAE and China by 2030.

On October 27-28, 2021, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which complements China’s BRI, held its sixth annual meeting in Dubai, alongside Expo 2020 Dubai – the first time such a meeting is held in the Middle East.

The celebrations include a gala performance on the Jubilee Stage of Chinese drums, folk music and opera, as well as performances featuring violin, piano, tenors and a children’s choir.

The Al Wasl Dome also hosted a Qipao show, showcasing the exquisite traditional Qipao dresses, inspired by the four seasons and showcasing traditional Chinese culture and national costumes, while the China Pavilion – one of the Expo’s largest national pavilions – staged its popular light and drone show.
