International boat show brings big business to Fort Lauderdale – CBS Miami

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – For the 62nd year, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is back.

“This gives us the opportunity to interact with our clients and hopefully new potential clients who feel relaxed and able to come to an event,” said Roger Moore, CEO of Nautical Ventures. “We have a number of water sports, toys, products that we sell to yachts or to people who just love to be on the water.”

He says the pandemic has given the shipping industry an unexpected boost over the past year and a half.

“Throughout the pandemic, people have looked to water sports and boats as their family ‘PPE’ and an opportunity to have fun and be away from the crowds,” says Moore. “So, surprisingly enough, we had some really good deals. “

According to organizers, the International Boat Show has an economic impact of $ 1.3 billion statewide. According to the organizers, the demand for nautical products is at an all time high. According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, more than 310,000 new powerboats were sold last year. These numbers had not been seen since before the 2008 recession.

“I’m a Jacksonville boat captain and thought I was going to check it out,” said Chase Hawkinson, who was at the show for the first time. “Come down and see what it was.”

“A lot of people are putting out cool stuff that we haven’t gotten to see before,” said Javier Rodriguez, who was also in attendance.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show offers both seasoned sailors and nautical newcomers the chance to see the latest and the best on the market.
