The Children’s Theater of Cincinnati’s MainStage season 21-22 will continue with Roald dahl‘S MATILDA LA MUSICALE JR. at the Taft Theater February 5-14, 2021. Tickets are on sale now.

The Children’s Theater of Cincinnati asks the public to join them in providing the safest space possible for patrons young and old, actors, crew, volunteers and staff. the following protocol will be in place for their 21-22 MainStage season:

  1. Masks are mandatory for ALL ticket holders aged 2 and over, regardless of their vaccination status.
  2. All customers aged 12 and over must provide proof of * complete COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result administered within 72 hours of the show start time. A negative rapid antigen test given within 24 hours or proof of natural immunity via antibodies will also be accepted – this test should have been completed within six months of the date of the show you are attending. Self-reported negative test results that are not from a test provider, laboratory, or healthcare provider cannot be accepted. This rule applies to teachers and accompanying persons during their school day performances as well as during all public performances.
    1. To enter the theater, please bring a ** piece of photo ID and one of the following:
  • Original vaccine card or test result
  • Photograph or copy of vaccination card or test result
  • Photograph of the vaccination card or test result stored on your electronic device
  • * Fully vaccinated means the performance you are attending takes place at least 14 days after your last dose of vaccine.
  • ** Please note: Photo ID is not required for children.
  • Guests who medically require a reasonable mask must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 72 hours of entering the theater, regardless of their immunization status. A negative rapid antigen test administered within 24 hours will also be accepted.

  4. No concession will be sold during a performance.
  5. No food or drink will be allowed in the theater.
  6. No merchandise will be sold during a performance.
  7. Autographs for subscribers and Crown Club members after public performances have been postponed indefinitely.

Broadway’s Biggest Little Hero, Matilda, is an amazing little girl with a vivid imagination. Unloved by her cruel parents, Matilda is armed with an amazing wit, intelligence, and mysterious powers. At school, she catches the attention of her sweet teacher, Miss Honey, but also of the evil principal, Miss Trunchbull, who likes to think of clever ways to punish children. Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other and together they dare to take a stand against Miss Trunchbull to change their fate.

The sensory performance of Roald dahl‘S MATILDA LA MUSICALE JR. February 9 at 1 p.m. is for people with the autism spectrum, as well as children (and adults) with other special needs who may benefit from it. To create a sensory performance, the show is presented in a welcoming environment favorable to people with sensory challenges. Slight adjustments to lighting and sound are made, and effects such as fog, strobes, and lights stretching into the audience are minimized. A downloadable social story (in Word format) is made available on the TCT website one week before the performance. At the theater, TCT provides an area staffed with in-field specialists where clients can take a break if needed, and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center has trained staff.
