After several headlining performances at the festival this week, Morgan Wallen went golfing with one of his country music heroes, Eric Church.
The East Tennessee native and “wasted on youThe singer took to social media on Wednesday night (June 22) to share photos from his golf outing with Church.
Wallen shared a set of six photos from the golf outing to Cypress Point Club, a private West Coast golf club along California’s Central Coast. According to clubs Wikipedia, the club has a single 18-hole course, one of eight on the Monterey Peninsula near Monterey.
“It’s going to be pretty hard to top that trip,” Wallen captioned the photo series.
The first and second photos show Wallen, dressed in black pants, a white hat and a salmon polo shirt, standing Oceanside on the golf course, which offers visually stunning views. The next photo in the series shows Wallen, Church and another golfer walking the course.
In the fourth image of the six-part Instagram series, Wallen and Church, wearing a hat with the Church’s Nashville bar chef logo on it, are seen standing side by side smiling before hitting a few links together.
This isn’t the first time the country’s two superstars have played golf together. In June 2021, Wallen shared a photo with Church in a golf cart on another course, which he captioned, “‘Pair up the southern boys. “
Wallen and Church also previously spent time together fishing with Church in late April 2021.

The pair of country superstars and longtime friends recently shared a looping moment when Wallen served as direct support for Church at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
After the show in Minnesota, Wallen took to social media to reflect on the defining moment and share what a complete experience it was, as it was Church who inspired him to pursue his musical dreams.
“8 years ago, I went to my first concert. It was an Eric Church concert at the Thompson Boling Arena. His energy and that of his fans ignited me that night in Knoxville, TN. I knew then that I wanted to create something as real and authentic as what I witnessed with him and his fans,” Wallen shared on Instagram at the time.
“Fast forward 8 years, E is a close and dear friend to me, and I got to share the stage with him last night,” Wallen continued at the time. “I like to think maybe some of those same people at Thompson Boling Arena with me in 2014 were also at US Bank Stadium with me last night.”
The platinum-selling star closed her post with a message of gratitude to fans.
“Moments like these make me truly grateful for this life and for this music that I can create and perform anywhere,” he added. “Thank you guys for making this possible.”
Morgan Wallen detailed her friendship with Eric Church during a recent interview
Wallen had previously spoken of playing alongside Church, calling it one of the “greatest honors” of his career so far.
He went on to detail his friendship with Church during an interview with Lon Helton on Country Countdown United States.
“We started hanging out so, I don’t know, we just became buddies. I guess we sort of have a similar attitude or whatever,” the East Tennessee native explained to Helton. “I know he doesn’t come out publicly and he has a lot of friends and he’s always been my country music hero; it’s one of the main reasons I sing country music.
He went on to discuss how Church’s music inspired him as an artist and songwriter.
“When I first got into country music, it was his songwriting and the way he painted the images that made me want to do the same thing,” Wallen said. “So it’s really cool to consider him a true friend now. I’ve always looked up to him.”
In a separate interview, Church spoke with Helton about his friendship with Wallen and praised him as a person and an artist.
“There are a lot of these young guys that I became friends with,” Church said, before detailing their friendship. “With Morgan, we talk every week. What I like about him is that he is a genuine and really honest person. We like spending time together. We go fishing, we wrote songs and it became a beautiful friendship for me.
Wallen also recently surprised fans at his concert in Nashville in March 2022 with a special two-song performance alongside Church. The duo performed Church’s “Smoke a little smoke” and “It’s time to stopa song Church co-wrote with Luke Laird and Josh Thompson for Wallen’s second record project, Dangerous: The Double Album.
Additionally, Eric Church and Morgan Wallen are set to perform various Faster Horses Festival dates in Brooklyn, Michigan, July 22-24. The festival will also feature a headlining performance by Tim McGraw.
