Students on the final countdown to bringing the coming-of-age musical to life – FE News

It’s a coming-of-age musical, and the students of The Hart School have begun the final countdown to bring it to life.

Based on Charles Dickens’ classic tale of love, loss and betrayal, excitement now sets in for the students of Rugeley School as they put the finishing touches on their entire school production of Oliver who will take place from July 5 to 8.

With tickets open to the local community, as well as parents, family and friends, audiences can expect to enjoy a host of classics from this award-winning musical, including Consider Yourself, Food Glorious Food and I’d Do Anything, performed live by the talented students of the Creative Education Trust.

The production will be the school’s first in three years due to the pandemic.

“Big buzz of excitement” throughout the school ahead of the performance

Principal Ms Rachael Sandham said: “There is now a great buzz of excitement across all age groups as our pupils count down to their highly anticipated performance of Oliver, which will be our first production since summer 2019.

“All of our school productions create lifelong friendships and memories for our students who truly celebrate what can be achieved through hard work, determination, resilience and teamwork while allowing individual talents to shine. thanks to their skills.

She added, “I would like to take this opportunity to say a big congratulations to all the students for their hard work and commitment in putting together this production.”

Not only will the students, who have been supported by the school’s performing arts department as well as Musical Theater International, perform on stage, but they will also be involved in stage management, lighting, sound, marketing and front roles.

Split into two acts, tickets for Oliver are available via Parent Pay at the school box office, school reception, between 10am and 3pm, or at the door in the evening if they are not already sold out.
